Finnish Artillery pieces

Guns without recoil system

The designation of guns in Finland was, and is, as follows:
- The first number is the Caliber of the gun in millimeters (mm)

- Then the letter that follows identifies the type of the gun
K = cannon
H = howitzer
LK = gun short
VK = mountain gun
VH = mountain howitzer
RK = infantry gun
KH = gun-howitzer
- The last number is the year of development (or when it was accepted in service or some other year used to identify the model)

Note:
The characteristics of the guns are with a normal shrapnel/HE projectile.
The barrel length can vary by different sources.

The gun was a improved Russian version of the 87 mm M1887, by Krupp and Obuhov.
The model R was a short barreled version for cavalry without the armor plate (smaller picture).

The gun was photographed in the 
Military Museum, Helsinki, Finland.

During the Winter War France donated a large amount of 90 mm guns "Materiel de 90 de campagne Mle 1877". They were used as auxiliary guns by several Finnish artillery regiments.

This gun was manufactured by both Krupp and Obuhov. A large amount of these were captured during the war of independence and some of these were used in the Winter War on the isthmus and by coast defense units..

This piece belonged to the same 1877 series of guns as the former. Before the Winter War, it was in use by the coast-defense, but during the war, many of these cumbersome guns had to be taken into use on the Karelian Isthmus.

This Russian heavy fortress and siege cannon from 1877, was difficult to move cross-country and only one artillery battalion (Rask.Psto 5) was armed with it. The Barrel weight was 120 pood (app. 1 980 kg) .

The barrel weight on this gun heavy fortress and siege cannon was 190 pood (app. 3 135 kg) and they were held in reserve.

Another picture of the 152 K 04-200pThis heavy Russian gun was manufactured by Obuhov. 4 were captured in the war of independence and 2 were used during the Winter War. They were assigned to lake Ladoga's coast defense, and gave support to ground troops. Barrel weight 200 pood (app. 3 300 kg) . (Note: the heavy guns had to aimed by sitting on the barrel ! )

The gun on the left was photographed in the Artillery Museum in Hämeenlinna, Finland.
